Coinstar和Redbox

不知道大家有没有注意到在Walmart, Meijers,甚至公寓里面的洗衣房还是健身房里面有Redbox vending machine.就是象放钱买cocacola的那种机器.不过这种不卖汽水,是租光碟的.

其实跟打广告里面的不太一样,也就Meijers才有一块钱租一天的价钱.在公寓里面的价钱是跟blockbuster的一样的,而且只租一天. 不过我觉得是很方便. 我一个星期买一次菜,就顺便在Meijers租了. 在公寓里面的就更爽了.最适合我这样一个星期才出去逛一两次的宅女了.晚上累了一天,穿个脱鞋睡衣到楼下去按几下Redbox机器,刷下信用卡就可以看碟了.不用租个碟都得在天寒地冻的穿上棉袄走几个block.再在并排的vending machine里面买罐可乐,我的一天就完美了.


Redbox的母公司是上市公司Coinstar (CSTR). Coinstar目前有四分之一的销售来自Redbox.Redbox成长挺快.短短的五六年,占DVD rental的市场已经到了14%.
销售量是$314 million,增加了43% .盈利从 $2.7 million, 或一股$0.09, 增加到 $7 million, 或一股$0.23 . 今年,母公司Coinstar 预算销售量 从$1.225 billion 增加到 $1.3 billion. 盈利预测达一股$0.80 和 $0.86 之间.如果明年2010的平均股盈利能达到预测的$1.50左右.给个30的P/E(目前是四十),那是$45一股.


目前比较大的风险是Redbox跟Fox和Warner打官司.如果输了,而且其他studio跟风,那很可能要从新估计这个商业模式了.
